About CPCE Libraries
Commencing services in September 2007, the branch at the Hung Hom Bay Campus is a two-storey library with an area of 1,200 square metres. The branch at the West Kowloon Campus was put into operation one year later in August 2008, and is a three-storey library with an area of 2,180 square metres. The design, facilities, and setting of the two libraries provide an environment that caters for different kinds of study and learning modes. Both libraries are fully covered by Wireless LAN, altogether equipped with nearly 300 Internet-connected computers, and providing a seating capacity of more than one thousand in a variety of user areas to meet users’ needs of self-study, group study and discussion, self-learning, collaborative learning and leisure reading.
Focusing on disciplines of Humanities, Communications, Social Science, Science, Technology, Business and related disciplines, the Library collections are built up with a combination of ownership and access, well mix of physical items and electronic resources made available through purchase, subscription, demand-driven acquisitions, and in-house development. While the College Archives is specifically built to document the development of the College, the collection of Self-learning Language Materials is established to support the personal language learning. As at August 2015, the collection of the CPCE Libraries as a whole consists of more than 230,000 items, including books, serials, newspapers, electronic journals, electronic newspapers, electronic books, online audio books, electronic dissertations and theses, multimedia materials, online talks and video programmes.
All the collections and facilities cater for the teaching and study needs of the programmes in the Hung Hom Bay and West Kowloon Campuses through Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED).
