Physical Collections
The collection of CPCE Library built up specifically to support the teaching and study of programmes of HKCC and SPEED. The collection consists of books, course reserves, reference collection, audio visual collection, college collection, newspapers, periodicals and interactive self-learning language materials.

Locations of Collections
The Collection mainly consists of books written in English and Chinese. There are also foreign languages materials. All books in the Circulation Collection can be checked out.
The location of Circulation items shown in the Library Catalogue is “WK Circulation”.
To better utilize the shelf spaces in the library, circulation books of which the height is 33 cm or more and/or the width is 28 cm or more are shelved separately as Oversize Collection. All Oversize Collection books can be checked out and subject to the same circulation policies of Circulation Collection books.

The Serials Collection includes both English and Chinese languages periodicals titles. Current issues are displayed on the Periodical Display rack near the Casual Reading Area on 5/F of the Library. Back issues are kept inside the rack. Serials materials are for library use only and cannot be checked out.

Local and overseas newspapers are subscribed for the browsing of users. The current issues are located near the Casual Reading Area on 5/F of the Library. Back issues of the current 4 weeks are kept at the closed stack behind the Counter. All newspapers are for library use only and cannot be checked out.
Library users may also view and search newspaper articles online from the WisersOne which provides users with full-text news articles from hundreds of local and non-local newspapers, news agencies, magazines and government bodies. The database is updated daily with archives dating back to 1998. Newspapers for free distribution are made available for pick up at stands by the entrance of the Library.
Locating adjacent to the Circulation Collection, the Reference Collection includes reference tools such as language and subject dictionaries, directories, encyclopedias, thesaurus and handbooks. All Reference materials are for library use only and cannot be checked out.

The Audio Visual Collection consists of different types of formats including compact audio discs (CD), videodiscs (VCD), digital versatile discs (DVD), multimedia CD-ROM/DVD-ROM, audiocassettes, videocassettes and kits. The Collection covers a wide range of subjects ranging from general interest to specific topics such as language learning (English, Japanese, French, Chinese and Mandarin dialects), and International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Television programs and movies in Western language and East Asian languages are also available. AV carrels, headphones, and various equipment and machines are available for users to use the media resources.
Selected AV materials are displayed on the Popular Films and TV Shows display shelves located on 5/F. All multimedia materials are kept at the closed stack behind the Counter for users’ checking out.

The Reserve Collection includes course reading and reference materials recommended by teachers. While most of the Reserve items are books which are kept at the closed stack behind the Counter, some are electronic journal articles that users may read them online. Reserve items can be searched by course name or instructor name at the Library Catalogue. Users may ask at the Counter to check out a Reserve item.
