Reading@CPCE – Book Essay Writing Competition

Write and submit an essay after reading a book and get a chance to win a prize!

Book for your essay: One of your favourite books (Group 1: Fiction book, Group 2: Non-fiction book)

Eligibility: HKCC and SPEED students (CAT Eligible Activity)

Language: Chinese or English

Criteria:

• Originality
• Language competency
• Creativity and imagination
• Evidence of personal reflection

Format: Save your essay (1,000 - 2,000 words in length) in a MS Word file. The file shall carry the title and author of the book that your essay reviews. No personal information included.

Submission: Send your name, Student ID, title and author of the book, and your essay in the format stated above to libcontest@cpce-polyu.edu.hk. Please note that you can submit more than one essay but each winner is eligible for one prize only.

Submission Deadline: 21 Feb 2021

Prizes: MacBook Air, Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Overhead Headphones with Mic, AirPods, Sabbat E12 Ultra Truly Wireless Earphones, and Gift Vouchers.

Result announcement: April / May 2021

A Judging Panel with the teachers of HKCC and SPEED, and College Librarian of CPCE Libraries will decide the winning essays. The Judging Panel may ask the participant to submit the book under review for information, if needed.
