About CPCE Library

The CPCE Library has its origins in two branches which served the PolyU Hung Hom Bay Campus and PolyU West Kowloon Campus since September 2007 and August 2008 respectively. In July 2024, the two branches are merged and stationed in PolyU West Kowloon Campus. The three-storey library provides an environment that caters for different kinds of study and learning modes. The Library is fully covered by Wireless LAN, altogether equipped with around 180 Internet-connected computers, and providing a seating capacity of around 1,000 in a variety of user areas to meet users’ needs of self-study, group study and discussion, self-learning, collaborative learning and leisure reading.

Focusing on disciplines of Humanities, Communications, Social Science, Science, Technology, Business and related disciplines, the Library collections are built up with a combination of ownership and access, well mix of physical items and electronic resources made available through purchase, subscription, demand-driven acquisitions, and in-house development. While the College Archives is specifically built to document the development of the College, the collection of Self-learning Language Materials is established to support the personal language learning. As of June 2024, the collection of the CPCE Library as a whole consists of more than 461,000 items, including books, serials, newspapers, electronic journals, electronic newspapers, electronic books, online audio books, electronic dissertations and theses, multimedia materials, online talks and video programmes.

All the collections and facilities cater for the teaching and study needs of the programmes in the Campuses through Hong Kong Community College (HKCC) and School of Professional Education and Executive Development (SPEED).

Each physical item is assigned a Call Number based on the Library of Congress Classification scheme that determines the item's location on the shelf.
