Guide to open & access T&F Ebooks

Some ebooks from Taylor & Francis (T&F) subscribed by CPCE Libraries are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) which is used to control the number of concurrent users as well as print, copy and paste allowances. To open or download a DRM-protected book, the FileOpen Plug-in is required to be installed on your PC. For details of DRM, please click this link.   The guides on the installation of the plugin and open/download of T&F ebooks are shown below.

(A) Installation of FileOpen Plug-in

 

  • Press Next button.

 

  • Press Run button.

 

  • Press Run button.

 

  • Check the box, I accept the terms in the License Agreement and press Install button.

 

  • The installation will begin. Wait until the installation is finished.

 

  • Click Finish button to end the installation.

 

(B) Open/Download T&F DRM-free eBooks

  • Select a T&F ebook and from a book page, click the Access button.

 

  • You can either select Quick acess to view the ebook immediatly or Download a copy for reading later.

 

  • If you select Quick access, the ebook will open in a new window in Adobe Reader.

 

  • If you select Download a copy, you can open or save the ebook to your PC.

 

  • Press Save button to save the ebook to your PC if you want to download a copy. 

 

  • Give a file name and click Save button.  

 

(C) Open/Download T&F DRM-Protected eBooks

  • When you see the DRM icon displayed on a book page, this ebook is DRM-protected. You need to install a FileOpen Plug-in to your PC to open or download a copy.  

 

  • Click Access button

 

  • You can choose open or download the ebook.

     

  • To select Quick access, the ebook will open in a new window in Adobe Reader. There is no need to install the FileOpen plug-in for this access, but with the following access limitations.


  • Selecting Standard access requires to install the FileOpen plug-in to your PC and have the following access limitations.


  • Selecting Download a copy to your PC, the FileOpen Plug-in is required and with the following access limitations.

 

  • Press Save button.

 

  • Wait until the download is completed.
